THE FELLOWSHIP 2021 WINNERS ANNOUNCED

WHAT IS THE FELLOWSHIP?

It is designed to support an outstanding individual who has aN INSPIRING food dream/project idea/EARLY STAGE FOOD BUSINESS or FOOD RELATED ENTERPRISE. THE FELLOWSHIP RECIPIENT WILL GET A Scholarship of up to AUD 5,000 over 6 months.

NOTE: These funds will NOT be provided in cash to the successful applicant, but will instead be used to pay for things that further their dream project. THESE EXPENSES COULD BE SEED FUNDING TO SET UP THE VENTURE, MARKETING EXPENSES, RELATED TRAVEL, BUYING EQUIPMENT OR SIMILAR. THE USE OF FUNDS WILL BE PROPOSED BY THE RECIPIENT AND APPROVED BY THE FELLOWSHIP FOUNDERS.

The Fellowship will also provide up to 100+ hours of TAILORED SUPPORT FROM THE FOUNDERS AND THEIR NETWORK TO help fine tune the project/idea/BUSINESS and an opportunity to collaborate with loki and HIS FRIENDS IN THE CULINARY WORLD. THESE HOURS ARE THERE TO BE USED BY THE RECIPIENT OF THE FELLOWSHIP AND WILL BE TAILORED TO THE NEEDS OF THE RECIPIENT AND THEIR CULINARY DREAM.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY IN 2021?

THIS YEAR THE FELLOWSHIP IS FOCUSED IN THE FOUNDERS’ HOME STATE OF VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA. PLEASE SEE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA BELOW.

  • You are 18 years of age or older

  • (ii) You reside in Victoria, Australia

  • (iii) You have an avid and proven interest in the culinary industry (HOSPITALITY/CULINARY student/culinary professional WORKING IN FOOD OR FOOD RELATED INDUSTRY/FOOD entrepreneur or enthusiast)

  • (iv)You have a food dream/project or food business that may be at an idea stage OR has some early traction and you want to fast track it.

OUR WHY

The inspiration and intent of this Fellowship comes from Loki’s own food journey. Loki’s journey is testament to the fact that support, mentorship and encouragement at the right time plays a big role in one’s life.

Loki AND ISHANI hopE to use thE Fellowship to back someone with a food dream so they can kick start or fast track their food journey. ThrougH collaboration and support, LOKI AND ISHANI hope to use THEIR COMBINED knowledge to propel an outstanding individual towards making their dream a reality.

Above all, it is about helping them believe in themselves. 

WHO ARE THE PAST WINNERS AND WHAT DOES THE FUTURE LOOK LIKE?

In 2019 and 2020 the Fellowship was focused in India. This year’s Fellowship is making the move to Australia, changing the game down under.

The first recipient was Abinas Nayak in June 2019 - with the support of the Fellowship he went to change his career from IT to food, applied for Masterchef India and won the title in 2020.

Preet Sanghvi was the second recipient in June 2020 - she is a food entrepreneur and has expanded her business from Mumbai to Dubai. She is currently working on creating regional food experiences in India.

Loki and Ishani have set up The Fellowship with their personal funds and have made a commitment to provide AUD 5000 plus 100+ hours of tailored support each year to the recipient. In addition they provide another additional 200 hours to other finalists and the larger fellowship community in terms of support and mentoring sessions in entrepreneurship. 

All Trust the Loki projects will donate all or part of the profits towards this Fellowship to ensure its sustainability beyond 3 years. The founders hope that this platform becomes much bigger and more people come forward to provide support by committing their time, money and resources to ensure there is a pathway for aspiring chefs, cooks and culinary enthusiasts to express themselves and their food dreams.
